Today's topic would be:

Road to COP26:
Climate Crisis is Child Rights Crisis

I assume many of you heard about Climate Change already, you might even has somewhat understanding about it too. Well, today I want to ask you with a this sentence. Do you agree that "Climate Crisis is Child Rights Crisis"?

If you don't why? Don't you agree that children are the future generation that will inherit this earth after we die? and therefore they will be the generation who experience the impact of what we did today.

Including if we decide to be ignorant and careless about the sign and growing symptoms indicate countries experiencing climate change. From a warmer weather, heavier rains, drought, winds, storms, etc.

UNICEF release a video last August 2021 showing how children are affected by climate crisis across the globe. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xd3DP40Ip54

While this is a video from Climate Action Tracker with situation in 2021 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-wJo5aKBwq0

So, question to you now, how convince are you that your children, and your children's children will survive this climate crisis, unless we do some real change now. Unless we take action now, start with personal action, that we hope trigger community's action and at the end a nation action.

more about how Indonesia, my country, preparing to address this climate crisis can be learn from this event few days ago https://katadata.co.id/roadtocop26

Stakeholder Satisfaction Survey

Today's topic would be: Stakeholder Satisfaction Survey

More and more companies are now implementing CSR program, or CSV, but not much understand how to measure your stakeholder satisfaction, measuring your CSR program performance, in form of an index or score that is easier to understand rather than a long narrative write up about qualitative review of each program performance.

As many service industry use Importance Performance Analysis (IPA), any other company can also use the same analysis to measure their social responsibility program. The four quadrant resulted from the analysis will help management review the program implementation whether is match the stakeholder expectation, over doing or not match at all.

Untuk teman-teman yang ada di Indonesia, dan tertarik lebih jauh untuk mengetahui survey kepuasan masyarakat atau stakeholder bisa langsung menghubungi saya di missluki@live.com atau wardhani.lukita@gmail.com.

This year, we are trying to expand our experience not only for sharing our insight but also to assist those who are in need of social survey, assessment, analysis, or even developing CSR program plan.

We are welcoming anyone who is interested to utilize our assistance related to Indonesian Sustainability context.

cheers.. and happy holiday..

Preparing your first Sustainability Report

Today's topic would be:
Preparing your first Sustainability Report

For those companies who are trying to prepare their first Sustainability Report, here are some tips which I learned from my own;
  1. Identified all compliance standard which your company has already followed and reported
  2. Do a linkage analysis between GRI indicators against each of those compliance you had (for example, against ISO 14001, OHSAS, ISO 26000, or some other specific indicators for forestry, plantation or mining that is locally applied or mandatory by certification). This is actually the hard part, since you will require to analyze each of indicator and learn more about the similarity and differences. This exercise is good so then in the future your team would not be having replication of data preparation and report which will create stress and negative enthusiasm when again they heard the company would have another indicators of compliance to follow.
  3. Do only a short briefing which explained more on why we are doing this report, what is the impact if the report is good or bad, and how they could contribute to this report. And set a theme for your first report. This theme shall be different every year based on your group focus, this theme will help you and your theme identified which one of those reports and data will be selected as your this year progress story.
  4. Have already a check list in your hand that has been separately identified per target group of department with indicators that they have to complete
  5. Set a clear time line to monitor your data collection
  6. Try different way of presenting report, by using interactive and creative way of producing charts, photos, etc
  7. If you can't write then hired a professional writer to write your report, but do have a story line as your guidelines so you still be the leader of that report
  8. Prepare your data always for previous, current and future plan with back up file up to five years document
  9. Agreed with your management about which one you want to disclose and which one is not based on your company sensitivity
  10. Create separate filing and database for all these supporting document and draft your prepare, since it would be an annual event
  11. Lean from other companies who has published their report, and try to get the most similar type of company.
  12. With the linkage exercise you have done, then your report would have multiple references, your report become an integrated report.

Good luck..

CSR Project Dashboard

Today's topic would be: Project Management dashboard for CSR performance monitoring

It start with how?.. How we present our CSR performance, how we monitor our performance?

Can it be measure with quantitative analysis or only pure qualitative analysis or both?
If it can, then how is the presentation would be like? can it be a simple as Project Management Dashboard?

And my answer would be, Yes It can..

Using Balance Score card as our tools to score our performance indicator which we have agreed taken from our CSR program. It could be; Community Health Performance (if we have health services program), Access to Education performance (if we have Education program), Household income performance (if we have economic empowerment program that lead to income generating scheme for our community) and other indicator that we could agreed taken from our baseline data.

If we have so much number on negative indicator such as infected diseases then our indicator performance would be "reduction percentage or number of infected diseases cases" in a village or in a district depend on how large your program affected.

All these data then add up with internal update such as, pending grievances, outstanding of dispute cases, negative publication, positive publication, etc.. touch with simple or complicated formula in an excel then we could rating our status; are we in normal situation, alert situation or emergency situation

Using speedometer chart we can then indicate the status in unique way as right sample.

or just traffic light chart ..

CSR Dashboard could be showing something like this;

The important things is to start having the data supporting your performance, you need to have quantitative data that is updated every month or every quarter (your choice), that you could present in a chart based program.
I consider a dashboard as a window to what you need to see, what your company need to know, need to be alert with towards a risk analysis and and performance evaluation.
there are many website providing free trial, free template and free tutorial for developing your own dashboard.

Remember, decide your target, set your indicator then develop your supporting data and update it regularly to see the movement of your performance.

Good luck..

Stakeholder Engagement

Today's topic would be:

Stakeholder Mapping, analysis and planning

What is stakeholder? Who are they? what do we going to do with them, how do we engage them? Do we need to? why?

All these question are main question that we all asking when we need to develop strategy for our stakeholder engagement strategy which very useful tool to use as basic information developing our Sustainability strategy for let say five years ahead.. or even ten years forward.

I think, it was very smart thinking, that Indonesian Center for Sustainable Development or known as ICSD create three days training regarding an Effective Stakeholder Engagement for Sustainable Development, as tools to develop CSR strategy towards sustainable operation.

And lesson learn approach that the speaker and trainer used, provides a wide range of divers experiences from coal mining company, oil and gas company to plantation based company.

Not many company actually understand that approaches and stages.. although most big company has done it, by their consultant.. only few who hired their staff with this kind of knowledge., fortunately our company did.
Actually there are many template which could be use and easily found in google, such as below:
matrix of stakeholder identification
which then need to be analyze and map it as below;

The one thing that summarize the stages of stakeholder mapping are: Identify your SH, analyze them, plan type of approach you will use to deal with them, then Engage.. with the strategy design earlier as your mapping guide you to.

During your identification, you will also need to identify level or ring of your SH, from one who is directly affected to one who influence your operation in international level..

The more accurate and complete information you have about your SH, then more guideline you have to develop your strategy based on your SH profile.

Always maintain all your SH, don't create a room for their jealousy among them which led into discrimination accusation.

for more complete template you may find it at below link

Teman-teman CSR
